Remember the saying about an Apple a day keeps the doctor away, it might seem logical to a hospital to shy away from giving away Braeburn mature well to everyone who walks through the door.
But Kennewick General Hospital hope Tri-Citians would bring that old adage to heart, literally.
Hospital volunteers provided over 400 bags on Wednesday, each containing an Apple, granola bars and handout with information on how to start a heart healthy diet.
Gift bags are part of national recognition began to eat healthy day, but hospital spokeswoman Liz Syer says it's only the beginning of public health efforts launched a local hospital to promote a healthy diet and exercise.
"I think we always promote the healthiness," she told the Herald. "I think this is our first attempt to actually trigger the spirit about it. We're looking forward to getting the word out to the community. "
