ULM, Pennington Biomedical Research Center work together to explore geriatric …

Star News report (http://tnsne.ws/tyXBZC) the Agency signed a memorandum of understanding in Baton Rouge on Thursday that will pool resources and expertise from both institutions related to the field of aging and dementia.

ULM faculty from different disciplines will work with faculty to develop research on Pennington's on both sites. This effort would involve studying social, physiological, cellular, molecular and genetic causes and effects of dementia.

"The idea that there is much overlapping between researchers here Pennington and faculty at ULM," said Jeffrey Keller, Director of the Institute for research and prevention of dementia in Pennington. "This will enable the Faculty in ULM to work with the participants in our study and our database for developing grants and manuscripts in the areas of aging and dementia."

He said the collaboration will enable researchers from both institutions to share findings and expertise in addressing the same issues, they added that he expects a lot of interest from the Faculty of pharmacy, psychology, ULM's care and gerontology Department.
